Wildfire Mitigation

The International Wildland-Urban Interface Code (IWUIC), developed by the International Code Council, provides tiered, code-based wildland mitigation regulations--including detailed roofing requirements--to help protect buildings in areas where urban development meets wildland vegetation. The 2024 edition outlines roofing material standards, venting restrictions, and construction classifications based on fire risk severity to reduce wildfire vulnerability in affected jurisdictions.
